We are delighted to invite you to attend the 9th Brazilian Congress of Family and Community Medicine which is going to be held together with the 2nd Congress of the specialty in Ceará.
The 9th Brazilian Congress and the 2nd Congress in Ceará are going to take place in the beautiful city of Fortaleza from the 1st to the 4th of May, 2008. The friendly, joyful, hospitable and warm people of the city are certainly going to contribute a lot to the success of the event.
We are going to adopt the following central theme as the scientific and political identity of the 9th Congress:
The Importance of Family and Community Medicine and Family Health for the Health of Brazil: 30 years after Alma Ata.
As we discuss this theme, we are going to attempt to highlight the potential held by our specialty as well as the Family Health Strategy to qualify health care practitioners so that they can reach every Brazilian.
We intend to stress the potential contribution and the impact of Primary Care in Brazil. Such dimensions are also going to be discussed with an international perspective.
When we talk about "Health of Brazil", we do not just mean the health of the people, the families and the population but also the health of the Health System itself and the health of the education and research in this area.
We aim at taking into account not only quantitative dimensions but also qualitative results produced by Family and Community Medicine and Primary Care.
Some studies assessing the impact of the Family Health Strategy are going to be presented. They are going to focus on the levels of assistance, teaching and research and they are going to consider both quantitative and qualitative aspects of scientific investigation.
Indexes on morbid-mortality rates, coverage, management and the implementation of programmatic actions are going to be displayed next to other indexes on education, qualification and professionalization of human resources, curriculum guidelines, changes in medical teaching approaches as well as in training sites, pedagogical methodologies, permanent education, profile of graduates, user satisfaction, relationship doctor-person-family-community, health care and the like.
In other words, what, where, and how Family and Community Medicine and the Strategy of Family Health are able to accomplish and have been accomplishing so that the Health System, the qualification of human resources and the research programs in our country can more effectively cater to the major needs and demands of the population.
Once again, we are going to hold a great event! A major step toward the consolidation of Family Medicine, the Strategy of Family Health and Primary Care in our country.
We would like to remind you that you have the right to take part in it and you ought to give yourself this present, an opportunity for recycling and cultural and scientific interchange.
